WHERE WE ARE

On account of having received many questions regarding the race location and directions, we have provided very detailed directions and maps here. If you find yourself still confused and/or have questions, feel free to contact us.

For your convenience, we also have everything on this page packed up in two files: .doc (size 194kb) and .pdf (size 186kb). Click on either one to download the file.

1. Coming from Long Island (going west):

Take the Belt Parkway west and get off at Exit 21-B to Rockaway Blvd. Exit (west) on to the North Conduit (west) which runs parallel to the Belt Parkway. Go about two miles west on the North Conduit.

Cross over 150th Street (top of hill) you will see a Exxon Gas Station on your right.

Continue on the North Conduit, past the Holiday Inn, Radisson Hotel and Hilton Hotel which are on your right.

Stay in your right lane and take the ramp up to the Van Wyck Expressway (south) to the main entrance to JFK Airport. Then follow the directions as detailed in #3 below.

1a. Coming from the north (Westchester, etc.):

Select one of the routes you will be taking:

From I-87 NY Thruway: South on Thruway-Major Deegan Expressway to Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95); east on Cross Bronx to I-678 south across the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge to Van Wyck Expressway south which leads directly to the airport.

From I-95 New England Thruway: NE Thruway south to Bruckner Expressway; take exit for I-678 south across the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge to the Van Wyck Expressway south (I-678) which leads directly to the airport.

From I-84/I-684: South on I-684 to I-287; west on I-287 to I-87 NY Thruway-Major Deegan Expressway to Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95); east Cross Bronx to I-678 south across the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge to the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) which leads directly to the airport.

2. Coming from Brooklyn via the Belt Parkway:

Follow the signs to JFK Airport. Stay in your right lane and take the ramp down the Van Wyck Expressway (south) to the main entrance to JFK Airport.

Then follow the directions as detailed in #3 below. The next exit on your right going down a slight hill is the entrance to the Federal Circle. Do not use this exit! Continue ahead over the bridge and you will see a large electronic sign over the roadway, "WHERE JFK GREETS THE WORLD" and a large clock. Pass under this sign. Stay in the far right lane.

3. Continue down a slight hill (on your right) this is the entrance to the South Service Road. You will see a flashing caution traffic light with yellow signal straight ahead and you will see Bldg. 14 on your right. You will see a huge structure in the background that is 135 feet tall with the "JAL" sign. This is part of the Bldg. 14 facility.

4. There are three gates leading into the entrance of Bldg. 14. Use the first gate entrance on your left. After 6:00pm and weekends/holidays this gate is closed from 6:00pm to 6:00am. During this period, use the third entrance on your left (the road is known as the terminal highway leading to the General Aviation terminal). Use this road and make the first right into the Bldg.14 parking lot.

If you are on a slow connection, please be patient while the maps load.

You will see this sign:

This aerial photograph below shows the location of Bldg. 14. Bldg. 14 is located on the South Service Road that runs parallel to the Van Wyck Expressway (678). Bldg. 14 is a multi-tenant building which is leased by Japan Airlines Management Corp (JMC). The headquarter offices for the Port Authority are also located in this building.

Signs on the roadway leading into the parking lot show "JMC" and "Port Authority". The 5k Race starts behind Bldg. 14. Parking is in the front of Bldg. 14. Registration is in the Chef's Orchard Restaurant. There is a sign over the entrance to Chef's Orchard. You will also see picnic area with benches..
